Brit Hume Speaks Out about Tiger Woods

I am amazed and encouraged by what I saw on National TV. But first, if you haven't seen the Youtube media piece where Brit Hume tells Tiger Woods to consider Christianity on the Bill O'Reilly show take the time to do that first.

I have mixed feelings about whether someone should tell someone else on national TV to turn to Christianity, it feels like it needs to be a more personal message than that. However, I'm amazed and encouraged that Brit Hume would speak up for the Christian faith on national TV. It seems like it is almost impossible to even utter the name Jesus Christ unless it is a swear word but he did. I hope this kind of debate is embraced by the national media. Not the Tiger Woods part, I've heard more than enough about him lately, but the freedom to talk about faith. This is a breakthrough in my opinion. I don't know that it is a rule and I don't know who sets the rules but for some time you could talk about any faith but the Christian faith.

I'd like to hear what you think. Is this a good thing? I commend Fox, Brit and Bill O'Reilly for bringing a discussion like this into the open. I hope those of us who are looking for a chance to talk about Christ and the difference He can make will use this opportunity in a sensitive and personal way. My only regret is that it comes at Tiger's expense. I'd like to hear what you think.

For some reason, most in the media and many of the public think that faith (especially the Christian faith) should be a private matter and not discussed at all. As a result, many public figures do not speak out about their Christianity. Brit has in fact come under criticism for what he said. What is sad is that had he used the Lord's name in vain, it would not have been controversial at all. Kudos, Brit!

For Tiger to know, in a REAL and POWERFUL way, that he can change his ways and receive forgiveness from God, and not just his fans, but from his Maker, and then to experience that Grace and Spread the Good News, from where he is at now, would be "GINORMOUS".

I think it's also great that Hume's intentions were to better Tiger's relationships..to better his walk in life. I think he understands the freedom that this loving relationship brings. I commend him for putting Tiger's life ahead of the game of golf...for remembering that Tiger is a living, breathing human...imperfect like us all, who just needs help at this time in his life..not merely in his career. I experienced this, rather, as an opposite to what I've viewed in the tabloids and media. I would imagine that Hume was fully aware that this would get under the medias skin...but the truth often does. Thank you, Mr. Kendall, for bringing this discussion to light...I will continue to ponder on this one..
